Extension to a Grade II listed building in Tyttenhanger, St Albans

This Grade II listed building is on a prominent corner in the village of Tyttenhanger. The application secured planning permission to demolish the dilapidated existing non-original structures and create a modern kitchen and lounge area suitable for modern living while retaining the historic value of the property.

Significant negotiation with the St Albans district council was undertaken over the course of the submission and a strong focus was applied to maintaining the visually prominent location on the corner of Tyttenhanger Green and Highfield Road.

The exposed timber beams within the property were retained in their entirety and the wider historic fireplace was given new prominence. Our client downsized to the property and concept planning is continuing to advise on on-going changes to the property.
